Emily is currently a traveling teacher, and she also offers lessons online through Zoom!
For lessons at home, students must have a piano or full-sized keyboard (88 keys). A small keyboard is not an appropriate instrument for teaching and learning in person.
For Zoom lessons, keyboards must be at least 61 keys in length.
More advanced students need to have a full-sized instrument with weighted keys and a pedal.
1. Attendance Policy: students need to be consistently available during their lesson time. Lessons start and end on time. If a student is ill, please notify Emily as soon as possible. 24 hours notice is required to schedule a make-up lesson due to illness.
Emily understands that illnesses happen, and students may reschedule one free make-up lesson per four lesson cycle due to illness. Unfortunately, a second lesson cancelled due to illness can not be rescheduled as a free make-up, and that lesson time will be forfeited. Emily has a full schedule and can not reserve free studio time. Thank you for understanding.
2. Make-up Lessons: Students essentially “own” their lesson time, and make-up lessons are not a fall-back plan if there are doctor’s appointments, sports practices, drama rehearsals, or other general conflicts. In those instances, the lesson will be forfeited and no make-up or refund will be offered. Students may not cancel lessons because they haven’t practiced enough during the week. In those cases, the lesson becomes a supervised practice session instead.
3. Expectations: Students must have their music and a pencil ready to go at the start of every lesson. Students are encouraged to practice a minimum of 15 minutes a day five days a week in order to make consistent progress.
4. Payment: Students make a month-to-month commitment and are scheduled for four lessons a month. Lesson tuition is due in advance by the first of the month.
30-minute lesson: $150 per month
45-minute lesson: $225 per month
60-minute lesson: $300 per month
A travel fee will be added, dependent on your distance.
Emily accepts cash, personal checks, and payment through Venmo.
Emily does not offer free trial lessons. Students start by committing to one month.
5. Music Materials Fee: Students are required to purchase their lesson books and sheet music. Costs range from $20-$50 per year.
Emily is fully vaccinated and boosted against COVID-19, and will wear a mask during lessons upon request.
